The courage of young captives. Post class mulling.
I have been done with my OT Prophecy class for about three weeks now and I am continuing to reflect upon what I have learned. One thing is for sure, I am preaching Daniel 3 on August 16.
I love the principles that can be drawn from narratives and how events from the past encourage us today. I try to put myself into the shoes of young men who were taken forcefully from their home and placed into a context where, everything (EVERYTHING!) they knew and believed would be challenged. (Daniel 1-3) We just don’t face events like this as American Evangelicals. Would that we could!
How can I say this? Well, not wanting to give to much of my sermon away (not that it is not deep in the incubator still, it is!), but discomfort, persecution, (captivity?), etc. challenges the core of what we say we believe. It is this that is so encouraging! We must see that God allows and ordains everything for our good and His glory and in that, even in the testing of our faith, is found comfort and purpose! (Romans 8:28-30)
