The Baptism of Acts 2:38 in Light of New Testament Parallels

This is the “big project” of my masters degree. It is what is called a syllabus and is a precursor to a masters’ thesis that I may write in a future masters degree. I am currently undertaking only a 36 hour Master of Science in Bible and Theology. My seminary uses the Master of Science moniker to distinguish between their 36 hour and 60 hour masters degrees.

This paper was basically done for research and form, but I also have a high interest in continuing research in this area. It is long by some people’s standards, but not nearly as long as it would be if it were a full thesis, therefore, it is in some ways incomplete. Please keep this in mind if you decide to put yourself to sleep at night reading it.

Irenic comments and discussion are welcomed, but vitriolic banter will get you banished.

By way of information and not bragging, I did receive and “A” in this class, but I am not sure what grade I have received for this project, as the paper itself is still sitting in my mail box out in Kansas City. This is the pre-professor-corrected form of the project. Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Theme Development of 2 Peter

I also promised I would continue to post my papers for seminary for critique. Please feel free.

Here is the theme development of 2 Peter.

Theme Development of 1 Peter

One of the stated purposes of my blog is to present work done in my seminary studies (i.e. That’s why the subtitle is “thoughts and studies”). I am currently enrolled in a General Epistles and Revelation class. Though my PhD days are far off (I probably won’t start for another five years), it will most likely be a research/dissertation only doctorate. Therefore; I have been advised to write as much as possible. Seeing as how I am required to write for my current classes, I would like to present my papers here for review and critique.

This post and a few of the following are merely “Theme Development” papers and therefore do not carry the weight of a “research paper.” (I will present these here as well, one on the “warning passages” of Hebrews and one on four views of Revelation, with my view stated and defended.)

Today I present my Theme Development of the First Epistle of Peter.

The Cessation of Tongues

Here is my brief theological position paper on the cessation of tongues. All friendly criticism and discussion is welcome.

Cessation of Tongues

Faith and Repentance

I recently wrote a defense of the necessity of repentance as a piece of the conversion process.  I wrote this in an environment where my position was not the one held by my professor.  I thought I would share it here.  I am open for criticism and friendly discussion on the matter.
